PROJECT SEVA

A young girl with braided hair and a striped sweater smiling, filling a plastic water container at an outdoor water source, surrounded by old brick walls and a mossy stone surface.

Our Mission

Seva was founded in 2023 at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in order to counter what we saw as a rapidly developing water crisis in Nepal.

Through the expertise of our members and the UMN community, we work to provide solutions to alleviate water insecurity in Nepal.

1 in 4 people lack access to clean drinking water

For billions of people, water is not just a daily necessity but a constant struggle. The lack of access to safe water means higher rates of disease, increased mortality, and reduced quality of life. Many must travel long distances to gather water from unsafe sources, putting their health and safety at risk.

More than 60% of the groundwater in South Asia is undrinkable

This widespread contamination leads to serious health issues, particularly in rural and impoverished areas. Contaminated water is a leading cause of preventable diseases and deaths, disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable populations.
